Doll Zippers

I lead a group of retired senior ladies in a crochet group, we do different projects like lap robes, shawls and twiddle muffs and donate them to Hospice. The zippers are sewn onto wide grossgrain ribbon and then stitched to the twiddle muff along with other items for dementia patients these items keep their hands busy and calm them.

This is the first thing from Home Sew that I haven't been happy with. I ordered separating doll zippers. The zippers came promptly. However, the teeth on the zippers were very large. They might work for an 18" doll, but my doll is 14" and the teeth were much too big. Also, I separated one, put it back together and had a real struggle getting it to zip, even after I waxed it thoroughly. I tried others with the same result. Since the doll clothes I make are for children in hospitals, the fact that it was everything I could do to make them zip told me clearly that the children, who are seriously ill, would not be strong enoough to make them work. I threw them away and made a mental not to be more careful about the teeth size.
